The Soul Behind the Parlour
Angi DeMatteis Cortese is a Reiki Master Teacher, Intuitive Tarot Reader, and Mystic whose lifelong path has been guided by a deep connection to Spirit, the natural world, and the unseen threads that connect us all. Working with healing energy since 2007, her practice is rooted in an earth-centered spirituality, weaving together Reiki, energy work, sound healing, intuitive guidance, and the sacred language of botanicals and crystals. Deeply intuitive, Angi is drawn to the mysteries of the soul, the wisdom held within the natural world, and the profound transformation that unfolds when we begin listening to the quiet voice of our own inner knowing.
Angi has devoted much of her journey to creating spaces where healing, curiosity, and spiritual exploration can flourish. She believes our intuitive and spiritual abilities are not gifts reserved for a chosen few, but an inherent part of our human experience, waiting to be remembered, nurtured, and trusted. Her purpose is to hold space for others as they journey beyond the surface, reconnect with the depths of their souls, awaken their own intuitive wisdom, and embrace the beautiful, sometimes messy, sacred process of becoming.
The Story Behind the Parlour
Black cats, broken wings, and beautiful becoming.
Some names are chosen. Others find their way to us.
The Black Cat is a tribute to my grandmother and the mysterious ways love and Spirit continue to find us beyond the physical world.
When my grandmother passed, she came to me in the form of a black cat. It was an experience that stayed with me, made even more meaningful when I shared it with my mother and learned that my grandmother herself had often seen black cats before someone passed. A quiet thread connecting generations, the mysteries of Spirit, and the love that never truly leaves us.
The Broken Butterfly is a reflection of my own journey.
One day, while healing my soul, a yellow butterfly appeared with wings that were tattered and worn. Yet there it was, still flying.
In that small, unexpected moment, I recognized something of myself.
A reminder that we do not have to emerge from life’s experiences untouched to remain beautiful. That our scars do not diminish our magic. That even after the seasons that unravel us, there is still wonder, possibility, and life waiting to unfold.
Broken butterflies can still fly. And so can I.
The Black Cat & Broken Butterfly Parlour was born from these pieces of my story — from love, loss, intuition, transformation, and the beautiful mystery of becoming.
It is a place for curious souls, wandering hearts, and those finding their way back to themselves. A place where the mystical meets the everyday, where nature and Spirit intertwine, and where beauty is found not only in what blooms, but in all that has weathered the seasons.
Because there is magick in the mending, wisdom in the wandering, and beauty in every becoming.
